Interesting how the marketing for the "new" carbon fibre mando seems to be taking place right on the mandolin cafe.

@ $3500 a copy for the cf I believe I could buy a damn nice Collings A....or a Phoenix.......hmmmm, believe I'll stick with wood.

I would too.   I think I said this before but CF would be a great idea for a second mando for festivals and the like if it was <$1000.  For $3500, you're into killer A or darn good entry level F territory.

I know black-tops ain't yer thing but I do like the look of that Black/Blonde Collings in the obits.

well, i was kinda excited too. until i read the $3500 part. it seems to me that the carbon/graphite guitars are reasonably priced, but i always thought that alot of the rigel stuff was way overpriced. fortunately for me, i already have two very nice mandolins, and i've got alot less than $3500 in BOTH of them.
i just checked elderly, where you can get a rainsong carbon/graphite guitar for $1199. shipping included.

Yep, same here, thought it was a cool idea until the price tag came up. Now it looks like just another hopeful get-rich-quick scheme. A grand or so wouldn't be too bad for something totally unproven, but for what tey want they're gonna price themselves right outa the market, AGAIN! They don' any CF stuff in the pac rim yet?

Ahh, the flea and fluke.  Good ukes, intonate well, pleasing sound, indestructible.  Don't care for them.

And these are about 150.00

I happen to think it's cool.  Not in the same way as a handmade wood mando but still cool.  I just wish it was cheaper.  If it has a good punchy BG sound that can cut thru at a jam and was less than $1K, I'd buy one.  Yeah, I would.  But no way at $3.5K.

I guess there are enough early adopters that they have a waiting list sound-unheard.  I do wish them success.  What a I wonder is if they could ever ramp up volume enough to drop the price.

I think it's cool looking to.......but you can bet your ass the price won't be dropping & just wait until they price the F style. I wonder how the resale will be on these?.......kinda scarey.

i wonder how much it costs to make one of those, not including the design, tooling, etc. maybe they'll be stamping them out in china by next christmas, and we'll be able to get them for $149.99.

Interesting, when I posted at 3:36 this afternoon, those images showed up in the post.  You could see the pictures of the mando.  Now I just see the text of the links ????  Did anyone else see them?

I guess maybe the site won't let them be linked any more.

Update: I visited the thread over there directly with this browser (i'm at home now) and then came back to this thread and now I can see the pictures.  I guess you have to get them in cache from the other place before they'll show up.

After looking at the photos, I thought it looks like a raisin with f-holes. Don't like the diagonal lines across the front.

Wood is prettier, especially if its well figured.
