I have never played mandolin before but I'm looking to pick one up and try it out.    I saw this Continental one at the flea market for $80, does anyone know anything about this brand?  I haven't been able to find any information about it online.  Thanks a bunch!

Sorry, never heard of it.  There's a lot of cheap instruments out there.  For $80, you should be able to get something that's playable but not very nice.  But, a lot of stuff in that price range won't be playable at all.  It would be best to find someone who knows how to play and have them check it to see if it isn't junk.
