Hey guys. I am a guitar player, and my dad decided to buy a mandolin from an auction for 100 dollars. It is old and beat up. It has no manufacturing name. model name. make name. no serial number or anything. It is a 12 string, with a roung back and small pick guard with an S over an O in the centre in almost an ivory material. It is cracked all over the front of the body. The nut is beat up. the bridge where you hook up the strings is a piece of metal that looks like a sea shell.. but it has a bit of rust. 25% worth..other than that, the neck seems straight.. but i dont know if this thing is worthless or playable.

What do you guys think? Any idea on the make/model? worth?

Well I discovered a few things about this as I can't get any replies. I'll post it just so you people know.

It is a 1910 - 1930(estimated) roundback, 12 string Oscar Schmidt Mandolin.

No idea how much it is going to cost to buy a new bridge, nut, and possible neck fixing. Might not even be worth fixing.

Oscar Schmidt built some fine sounding instruments in the day.  I would do a little research and make a bridge and see what she sounds like.

I imagine this mandolin is more than just a wall hanger.

BTW, what is wrong with the neck?   I wouldn't worry about superficial cracks if they are stable..
