Buddy sends me this song we wanna do,  I think Dylan wrote it?  Anyway, this version was the Old Crow Medicine show.  Reminds me of Rosett.

Heading down south to the land of the pines.
I?m thumbing my way in the North Caroline.
Staring up the road pray to God I see headlights.
I made it down the coast in seventeen hours,
Picking me a bouquet of dogwood flowers.
And I?m a hopin? for Raleigh,
So I can see my baby tonight.

[Chorus:]
So rock me momma like a wagon wheel,
Rock me momma any way you feel.
Hey momma rock me.
Rock me momma like the wind and the rain,
Rock me momma like a south bound train.
Hey momma rock me

Running from the cold up in New England.
I was born to be a fiddler in an old time string band.
My baby plays a guitar I pick a banjo now,
Oh north country winters keep a getting me,
Now I lost my money playing poker so I had to up and leave.
But I ain't turning back to living that old life no more.

[Chorus]

Walkin' to the south out of Roanoke,
I caught a trucker out of Philly had a nice long toke.
But he?s a heading west from the Cumberland gap,
To Johnson city Tennessee.
I gotta get a move on fit for the sun,
I hear my baby calling my name and I know that she?s the only one.
And If I died in Raleigh at least I will die free.

[Chorus]

I've heard that a few times.  Love that song.  Nice tune, nice lyrics.  Kinda folky stuff that sounds purdy but ain't too wimpy.

"But your flag decal won't get you into Heaven any more.
They're already overcrowded from your dirty little war.
Now Jesus don't like killin' no matter what the reason's for,
And your flag decal won't get you i

I saw them in concert when I lived in Annapolis, MD. It was a cozy venue and we were at a table right in front of the stage. They are a very energetic group; I don't think there was much hair left on the fiidler's bow at the end of the show. I believe that is a Dylan song that they somehow reworked or added to. Funny thing is, I bought their CD but didn't like it as much as the live show.

As far as I know, it is a Dylan song.  Dylan wrote the chorus, or sang the chorus.  The fiddle player wrote the verses.  I could be wrong, but I think that they do give Dylan props for the chorus.

If you are interested, the chords are:

A///E///F#m///D///
A///E///D///D///

neal, you're just trying to bait me with that banjo thing.
in all honesty, that song is frighteningly like my old days. i did play banjo, i did hitch hike around alot, and i spent alot of time traveling between new england and the south.
what i want to know is, how, exactly did you know that?

Stalker.  That's me.  Sorry, old habit, after I got kicked out of Dave Letterman's house, I had to find someone a little more "low profile".

Damn voices..

That's what the doctors said I needed.   I disagree.   So I'm done stalking you now, until the voices tell me to start again, and I'm gonna stalk Dale or Mav.

A good Old Crow CD is "Live." It captures their energy. It's about five years old now, and features songs they mostly don't do anymore, but it's saweet!

I'll have to check out that "Live" CD. Like I said, I thought the show was great but the studio CD was "so-so." Some bands are like that.
