Tried listening to my iPod while cutting the lawn last weekend and forget it.  With the mower noise, I had to turn it up so loud, I'd go deaf.

I ordered some shooting earmuffs off Ebay. $1 + $7 shipping.  Came UPS from NJ to MA and I had them the next day.  So today I cut the lawn; put my little iPod buds in and then the ear muffs over.  Worked great.

I bought a battery powered (no cord) mower a couple of years ago. Much quieter though you can only cut about 1/2 acre (IF it's not wet) before needing to recharge. I listen to my iPod just under 1/2 max volume.

I've gotten to where I really hate all the noise polution.
