Ever listen to Hot Buttered Rum?  I must downloaded one of their shows several months ago and forgot about.  I was mowing the lawn yesterday listening to my iPod Shuffle and heard this song I really liked and had no idea who it was.  I ended up looking up the song and it was a live version of "Well-Oiled Machine" by Hot Buttered Rum.  I guess they're standard BG instrumentation-- git, mando, fiddle, bass, banjo, but kinda jammy.  I liked the song so I got on Amazon and ordered a used copy of the album about $9 with shipping.

i've seen em a couple times.. some friends refer to them as bubblegum bluegrass.. but they can stretch a tune nicely.. they had a percussionist when i saw em..

my son loaned me his "Snakes and Arrows" cd, Rush's new one.. Alex breaks out mandolin, mandola and bouzouki..
been a fan of this power trio for many moons (first time i saw them was in the 70's - i think when fly by night was released)
i like the cd, it seems a bit heavier than the last couple

Well I listened to a few songs of the CD last night when I ran out to the supermarket.  The vocals are indeed kinda "pretty".  Guess that gives it a bit of a pop sound.  Might also be one of those groups that sounds over-produced in the studio.  Their live cut I heard from Rockygrass definitely had more edge than the album cuts I listened to.

Haven't listened to Rush in years.  One of my roommates in college was big into them.  Saw them in concert once.
