Living here in the south can be confusing, and I guess it's not just me. I advertised on a local musician's forum under the title "Jazz mandolin?". In my ad I mentioned swing, bebop, gypsy jazz, and names like Django Reinhardt, Dizzy Gillespie, and Duke Ellington. So this morning I get a responce that says "I'm starting a Carolina beach music band. Would you be interested in joining? For those of you that don't live around here, Carolina beach music is a blend of Motown, 60's and 70's top 40, and general popular bar band dance music, with a line-up that usually includes electric guitar, electric bass, drums, keyboard, and a couple of horns. I'm tempted to respond and ask him what in the world he saw in my ad that made him contact me, and on the other hand, just delete the message from my mailbox. What would you do?

Well, I did used to play a 50's Gibson EM-200 through one of those wild old Gibson tremolo amps, but how could he have known?
