OK, I'm not aware of hanging nooses from a tree is a criminal offense unless you use those nooses to hang someone. The three white kids where suspended by the school for their actions. Case closed.

However, beating someone to a pulp is a crime and a heinious one too.

BTW: Living in Las Vegas, we've taking odds if OJ will get off again or perhaps this time put in jail and throw away the key.

The problem is looking at race first instead of just waiting for the legal system to dig up the facts relative to the law.

That's what happened at Duke; the prosecutor wanted to show off by proving that he can prosecute rich white kids.  That's what's happened in La with the protesters.   Supposedly the recent the white kids weren't prosecuted is the DA couldn't find a law that they violated.  The black kids were prosecuted because there's a law against beating people up.

Really, people should look to follow the law first.

Good observation, I never really thought of it in that way. Its true, too many politicians like to play the race card. The only problem with this is that it dilutes the real message of race relations.

I was thinking about it some more.  The protesters are really protesting the wrong thing.

The Jena 6, well four of them anyway, are indited for battery.  The preliminary evidence suggests they beat the crap out of somebody and they should be tried for battery.  The facts will come out at the trial.  It really pi$$es me off that they protest that.

Now the other case is that no one was indited for the nooses in the tree.  Now, the AG or DA or whoever it wassays that is because no law was broken.  Well, I suppose that is debatable as you could call it disturbing the peace or a hate crime or something like that.  So maybe someone has a complaint.

The bottom line is what they are protesting is something where the legal system is actually working.  The attempted murder charges are dropped and they're are charged with battery.  That's exactly what should happen.

The sad part is that the backlash against the protesters could do more harm to real civil rights than help.

Real civil rights are good for everyone, not just one group.
